Synopsis: Engaged by Entergy-Arkansas on February 25, 2003 at 2:30PM to provide support for power restoration event in the El Dorado, Arkansas area. Initial estimate (from Entergy) was a deployment of about 200 personnel. By mid-morning on February 26, 2003 the personnel deployed reached in excess of 600. Entergy SOR contacted Base Incident Command to request help in securing lodging in the affected areas. Base Incident Command personnel coordinated the efforts of several Entergy divisions to secure the required lodging. Base Logistics, Incident Command Center personnel coordinated catering operations, transportation and deployment of staging area resources necessary to support the operation. An on-site manager to oversee the logistics operation and to interface with local Entergy personnel involved in the response was dispatched to El Dorado. Entergy also requested catering services at their Arkansas Call Center located in Little Rock, AR. Base commenced this full service catering operation on Wednesday, 2/26
Challenge: Personnel increased from 200 to 560 on first day of response. The additional personnel arrived between 9:30AM and 11:30AM . Base had to provide 360 additional boxed lunches for noon meal. Because icing conditions had shut down the highways in Central Arkansas , our food supply delivery was delayed. Base's on-site logistics manager secured additional resources locally and had all additional meals ready when required.
