Services: Lodging
Securing
sufficient lodging in or near the affected area for emergency
personnel can be an immense challenge. To meet this challenge,
BASE Logistics has developed procedures to identify, secure
and monitor capacity prior to and during emergency events.
In addition, we've designed check-in procedures to expedite
getting personnel into their assigned lodging facilities.
BASE personnel canvas our customers' service territory to
identify available lodging facilities, obtaining each property's
individual capacity and seasonal occupancy level. BASE then
presents the requirements to the management staff and obtains
rate commitments from each facility to secure lodging and
manage capacity during an emergency response.
Additionally, BASE has established relationships with several
hotel/motel chain National Account Managers and Property Management
Companies. These relationships help us to secure blocks of
rooms with multiple properties within a region.
BASE personnel are acutely aware of the competitive situation
that exists in a regional crisis. Several entities compete
simultaneously for the finite lodging resources in the area,
continuing throughout the restoration period. BASE's experience
enables our staff to proactively secure and maintain critical
lodging resources throughout an event.
Our proven processes ensure optimal utilization of available
resources, and provide solutions to persistent problems associated
with lodging in emergency events.
Alternative Housing
 |
Sleep Tents |
Often, in the aftermath of a catastrophic events, traditional
housing facilities for emergency respondents are not readily
available. In these situations, Base Logistics, through our
modular building vendor network, can provide mobile, self-contained
modular living quarters to house personnel.
These units are especially useful in remote locations or
in places where traditional lodging has been compromised,
such as the 2004 Hurricane season, which saw four hurricanes
(Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne) batter the region around
the Gulf of Mexico and Florida.
BASE can also arrange for air-conditioned sleeping tents,
equipped with flooring and beds. We can also provide beds
and other ancillary items for barracks and/or dormitory style
lodging in public buildings such as Civic Centers and Gymnasiums.
Utilization of these resources allows for placement of the
workforce in the affected area as opposed to quartering in
distant lodging facilities reducing lengthy, non-productive
transit situations.
